Wellness At Home

Combining Wellness at Home with Integrative Medicine

When you become an Advanced Integrative Rehabilitation patient, you’ll discover ways to empower yourself to work with us in treating your condition. We believe that your overall lifestyle plays a large role in combating the injury or condition you’re dealing with that encouraged you to seek treatment. If you aren’t actively working on creating a healthy lifestyle for yourself, you may not see your body heal and restore itself in the ways that you’d like. When you take proper care of yourself and nourish your body, you will begin to see how your body responds by functioning in a more cohesive manner. To take steps towards a healthier lifestyle, we encourage you to adopt an integrative approach at home through an improved diet and an effective exercise plan.

Nutrition

The food you eat fuels your body. As Hippocrates stated, “Let food be thy medicine.” If you aren’t eating whole, nutritious foods, your body will not be able to function its best. We know that it can be tempting to settle for the busy, rushed lifestyle that is so prevalent in the United States today, but it comes with a cost. That cost is serious harm to your health and a body that will not work as well as it could. We encourage you to eat a diet that is rich in whole grains, lean proteins, vegetables, and fruits. Don’t worry, it’s not that you can never eat cake again, it’s just that moderation really is the key.

Exercise

Physical activity is another key component to creating and maintaining a healthy life for yourself. Adults should exercise at least 2.5 hours per week, which breaks down to 30 minutes five days a week. If possible, do some sort of physical activity every day. If you are not used to working out, start by walking. Eventually, you can increase your activity levels to include more vigorous movements. It’s always a good idea to consult with a medical professional before beginning a new exercise regimen.
